Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp
Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp is an intimate camp set in a delightful ancient acacia forest on the rim of the crater, next to the quiet Lemala access route. Each tent at Lemala Ngorongoro is equipped with 24-hr solar lighting and warm duvets to keep the cold nights at bay.
A key advantage of staying at Lemala Ngorongoro is the quick and easy access into the Crater floor. Access into the Crater is only fifteen minutes giving Lemala an added advantage, as your wildlife viewing can start well before other guests arrive on the Ngorongoro Crater floor. Another advantage is its close proximity to Ol Moti and Empakai craters, where one can trek to admire beautiful landscapes and habitats. This is one of the best accommodation options in the Ngorongoro area and offers a peaceful base from which to explore the Crater
Accommodation and Meals
The camp has 9 spacious canvas tents to ensure intimacy and minimal impact on the pristine forest environment. The tents accommodate two queen beds with winter weight duvets and hot water bottles. The tents are warmed in the evenings by a gas heater, ensuring a cosy night’s sleep. The roomy en-suite bathrooms contain a dressing area, flush toilet and a large safari shower. Each tent can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children.
The mess tent at Lemala Ngorongoro is beautifully furnished with grand sofas, lamps, bookshelves and corner cabinets in old wood, chests and rugs. In the evening, guests gather around the campfire to exchange tales of the day’s safari followed by a sumptuous hearty meal.
The camp works closely with the local Masai community and often there are dances and talks on Masai traditions and ceremonies providing guests the opportunity to interact with the tribe.
