Mara Safari Club
North West of the Masai Mara and at the foot of Aitong Hills is the Mara Safari Club, positioned on an ox bow of the Mara River. The accommodation at the Fairmont Mara Safari Club is situated in such a manner that the hippo-filled river and the immense wild life activity are visible from your tent.
Fairmont Mara Safari Club lodge is surrounded by well-cultivated gardens dotted among indigenous trees. With the emphasis on game viewing the tents have platforms between them, allowing for superb game-viewing and private dining. There are plenty to do at The Mara Safari Club. Watch the traditional dancing and talks on Masai culture, Game viewing ventures are extremely fun and adventurous and the guides are confident and knowledgeable on all aspects of the area’s natural history.
Accommodation and Meals
Fairmont Mara Safari Club has fifty tents of which 42 are twin-bedded and 8 double-bedded. Ten of these double bedded-tents are Premium tents and contain sunken baths in the bathrooms. Each room is immaculately decked out with everything you will need to have a luxurious bush experience. The tents are equipped with a large four poster bed, lamps’ (electrical), dressing table and hand-woven rugs and poster-bed drapes.
The bathroom has a shower stall or bath, flush toilets in bathroom, wash basin, Lonrho shampoo, hand and body lotion, shower and bath gel, and freshly laundered towels, solar-heated hot- and cold running water, windows with mosquito gauze and flaps, a flashlight and an umbrella. All tents have square-pin electric sockets for easy charging of video cameras, cameras and other electric gadgets. Adapters are available from Reception.
The Fairmont Mara Safari Club main lodge houses a warm reception area, retail shop, library equipped with Internet access, a beautifully decorated lounge area, and a lovely dining room. A large deck is cantilevered over the river and seats go quickly here as the joy of watching the hippos play or gazing up at the stars after a day of wonder is unmatched. Dining at The Mara Safari Club is a safari in itself, made from the abundance of fresh Kenyan produce. At the Club, the pool, al fresco buffet lunches, and nightly activities of Maasai dancing, presentations, and discussion on the Mara’s ecosystem and Maasai culture, all add up to create a truly unique experience.
Activities- Guests can choose from a wide range of activities at Mara Safari Club, including game drives and balloon safaris over the Mara plains capped with a champagne breakfast on the savannah or a stroll in the footprints of the hippo-trodden path escorted by a Maasai Moran.
Game drives, guided by our experienced ‘driver-naturalists’, are by four-wheel-drive Land Cruiser. The refreshing pool, al fresco buffet lunches and nightly activities of Maasai dancing, slide shows and talks on the Mara’s ecosystem and Maasai culture, all add up to create a truly unique experience.
