In the morning meet & greet in Arusha with your experienced guide. Enroute to Serengeti National Park to begin your safari. The drive crosses the multicultural village of Mto wa Mbu – home of Tanzania’s 120 local tribes – and Karatu Town. After passing through the highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will soon reach the endless plains of Serengeti National Park and enter the park at Naabi Hill. While the southern plains of Serengeti are dominated by an endless grass scene interrupted only by massive granite formations called ‘kopjes’, the heart of Serengeti – the Seronera Valley – consists of open grass plains with acacia trees and the Seronera River with its palm-tree fringed banks. Continue to your accommodation in Central Serengeti. All meals and overnight at your luxury tented camp or lodge
Serengeti National Park has the largest concentration of wildlife in the world. Together with the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the south and the Masai Mara in the north, it forms the largest nature and wildlife conservation area. This day is devoted to a full-day game drive inside the park. Moreover, your guide will know where to take you to view interesting wildlife. Watch out for buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas, leopards and lions or witness one of the world’s greatest spectacles – the Great Wildebeest Migration – as these animals follow the rain in search of fresh grass! Depending on time of the year, the wildebeest herds, which are joined by zebras and gazelles, will cross through Central Serengeti – an unforgettable adventure! All meals and overnight at your luxury tented camp or lodge
Get up early for a great sunrise in Central Serengeti and drive out – before breakfast – to watch wildlife. Did you hear the lions roaring at night? Follow their tracks along the road while also keeping a look-out for cheetahs, leopards and lions in the Seronera Valley. Don’t forget to look up into the acacia trees where they could be hiding and also enjoying a sweeping view of the open grass plains from a good vantage point. Return to your accommodation for breakfast and continue on to another game drive in Serengeti National Park before returning slowly to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area – a spectacular destination boasting great scenic beauty and astonishing wildlife. Continue to the Ngorongoro Crater, located 2240 meters above sea level, and overnight directly at the crater rim. All meals and overnight at your luxury tented camp or lodge
After breakfast drive on a small and steeply winding road down to the crater floor. With roughly 25.000 animals, the crater offers an incredible wildlife variety including large herds of antelopes, buffaloes, wildebeests and zebras as well as the regularly spotted hyenas and prides of lions. Although the crater floor provides a home for all species of the African savanna, there are a few animals, including giraffes, impalas and topis, that are noticeably absent. The elephant bulls in Ngorongoro Crater have extraordinarily large tusks due to the volcanic soils and phosphorous-rich plants. Black rhinoceros are present but prefer to stay between the Lerai Forest and Lake Magadi. After this enthralling day return to Arusha and arrive in the late afternoon.
