Descending over 450m in only 22km, the Mathioya River offers some of the most technical rafting in Kenya. It’s a narrow, low volume river and with rapids up to grade IV, previous experience is required to take on the 8km of continuous Class IV white water.

The Mathioya River trip is only available/raftable during the rainy seasons (mid April to mid June or October and November) and you must have rafted with us before.
We offer two trips a day, every day, the first at 9am and the second at 2pm. Please note that we need a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 60 people.
Rafting or white water rafting is a challenging recreational activity using an inflatable raft to navigate a river or other bodies of water. This is usually done on white water different degrees of rough water, in order to thrill and excite the raft passengers.
3 to 4 hours of rafting, transport between river and camp, a minimum of 2 professional guides, or a guide in every boat, all equipment and a guaranteed good time!
A day trip for 95 Kms from Nairobi The Mathioya is a narrow, low volume river, which runs for 22 km with a descent of 450 m. The water is not especially big but it is fast flowing and many of the rapids are technically difficult and class 4 and 5.
Mathioya river is one of the most technical river in Kenya.It starts from Aberdare forest which is one of the five most important water towers in Kenya.Unlike the Tana or Sagana as local know it ,it can only be likened to Colorado in the USA. When full the Mathioya produces the most technical rapids in Kenya. Only guys who have previous knowledge in rafting or experience in other countries can conquer the Mathioya river. Mathioya has two tributaries the Mathiya gatacioma and Mathioya ma iyego.
