Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park with its magnificent baobab trees and great diversity of wildlife is a compact and beautiful park that earns its place on any safari itinerary in Tanzania. Year-round water makes it particularly good for game. The Tarangire River in flood is a powerful beast, pouring out lakes into the landscape that survives, in lakes and swampy areas, throughout the dry season. Outside the Serengeti and Ngorongoro it has Tanzania’s greatest concentrations of wildlife – but far fewer visitors. Tarangire has a large population of elephant, often seen in their hundreds, migrant ungulates including specialist dry-country species such as the gerenuk and fringe-eared oryx. The birdlife is excellent, with one of the highest species counts this side of Tanzania
