Samburu Game Lodge
The Samburu Game Lodge is set on the banks of the seasonal Ngeng River and is surrounded by thickly wooded hillsides and peaks. The camp is located near Samburu National Park with warthogs, dik-diks, hyenas, waterbucks, lions, leopards and buffalos. It is ideal for bird watching as it has various bird species within its environs. It is located 6 hours from Nairobi town and can be reached by daily flights to the Samburu airport located in the Samburu National Park.
The Samburu National Reserve, conjoined with the smaller but no less attractive Buffalo Springs Reserve, lies a mere 320 kilometres from Nairobi.
Accommodation & Meals
Samburu Game Lodge has varying accommodation options ranging from luxurious cottages and bandas to twin and single rooms. The rooms are spread out along the bank of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Further classification of the rooms includes standard rooms, river rooms, and junior suites. All the rooms are well furnished and decorated.
The main restaurant is open on the riverside and offers an array of cuisines to choose from with its daily changing menu. Samburu Game Lodge has three bars namely the Crocodile Bar, the Vulturine Bar, and a pool bar. The bars also offer views of the river.
To cool down in the heat of the Samburu wilderness, one can take a swim in the lodge’s swimming pool or relax in the jacuzzi. Further relaxation is offered at the lodge’s resident spa where a certified spa therapist is available.
Activities: – Game drives on Land Cruisers with open roofs are the main activity. Samburu National Reserve is home to over 1,100 bird species and bird walks are also a popular activity. Finally, one can enjoy sundowners to cap an adventurous day on safari.
Lorokushu restaurant: The restaurant is designed in distinct African style overlooking the Uaso Nyiro river and can accommodate 120 guests. Diners are entertained by a Samburu flute player.The main dining room is open on the riverside with long tables and large buffets. The ever popular Crocodile Bar overhangs the water and is a great vantage point for the nightly crocodile feeding. The restaurant offers beautiful views, fantastic food. The Crocodile Bar and the Vulturine Bar offer fantastic views of the Ewaso Nyiro river with excellent service, and the Pool Bar can ply you with snacks and cool drinks while you languidly relax by the swimming pool.

Day 1. Samburu – Depart Nairobi in the morning flight for Samburu National Reserve afternoon game drive. Lunch, Dinner and overnight at Samburu Game Lodge
Day 2. Samburu – Early morning and afternoon game drive. Samburu is a true wilderness, and home to varieties of animals and birds rarely seen in other parts of the country. Here are to be found the Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, the Reticulated giraffe and Blue Shanked Somali ostrich. All meals and overnight at Samburu Game Lodge
Day 3. Departure – Early morning game, breakfast and depart to the airstrip for flight to Nairobi arriving at approximately 1200hrs.
