Tijara Beach is located 6 km. South of Mombasa Island in Pungu ? Kenya. It is an exclusive retreat set on a seaside bluff in 5 acres of colorful gardens overlooking the Indian Ocean. Accommodation & Meals
Only four individually situated cottages nestle in colourful gardens on a seaside bluff overlooking the Indian Ocean. Under the thatched roofs of each cottage, ceiling fans quietly cool the airy, spacious bedrooms. Both the room and the luxurious bathroom open up to a large hardwood deck. At the foot of the cliffs on which the resort perches is its own private beach.
How to get there:
By road: Approximately 45 minutes driving time from Moi International Airport Approximately 30 minutes driving time from Ukunda Airstrip Arrival and departure transfers are on complimentary basis.
Recreation: The retreat?s main dining area offers an al fresco setting with a comfortable chill out area to relax in after meals; alternatively dine privately on your own veranda or romantically on the cliff above the beach. Freshly-caught fish as well as fresh produce form the basis of Tijara’s delicious dining options, but the chef is more then willing to satisfy any special requests.

Recreational activities include snorkelling along the reef, bird watching or beach and cave walks. Plus, for keen golfers, Tijara Beach is close to any of the three Mombasa courses. Adventure seekers can enjoy a range of exciting tours like visits to the Shimba Hills National Park or to Mombasa Old Town and deep sea fishing or diving can also be arranged.
Special occasions: can be catered for: i.e. weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and meetings.

Conservation: Tijara’s commitment to conservation includes a community project to involve the local villagers in planting trees for further use as building or carving materials. This is an ongoing project with trees planting taking place before each rainy season. Tijara is also closely involved with the local Chief in talking to the local schools about the importance of the reef and its inhabitants and the necessity to protect them.
