Itinerary
Day 1 :
Arrival
On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta Airport (morning flight), met by our representative and later transferred to The Tamarind Tree Hotel where you will check-in and later we proceed to Nairobi National Park, an ornithological paradise starter within the city environs. Afternoon guided visit to National Museum Bird Gallery, Followed by a short bird walk at Nairobi National Museum Botanic Garden. Here we anticipate to see species like the Variable Sunbird, Bronze Sunbird and the Collard Sunbird, African Goshawk, Palm swift, Baglafetch Weaver, among others. Lunch, Dinner and Overnight stay will be at the Tamarind Tree Hotel or similar. (BLD)
Day 2 :
Nairobi – Lake Elementaita
Morning departure to Lake Elementaita arriving in the mid morning bird walk to try and identify available species like the Feral lovebird, Avocet, Klaas’ cuckoo, Glossy ibis, Black heron, Red billed Teal, Black tailed godwit among others before time for lunch at Sunbird Lodge. Sunbird Lodge is an eco-friendly luxury lodge is located in the Great Rift Valley, one of the natural wonders of the world An afternoon bird walk around the lodge environs before time for Dinner and overnight at the Sunbird Lodge (BLD).
Day 3 :
Lake Elementaita – Lake Naivasha
Lake Naivasha being close to Lake Nakuru and 65 miles from Nairobi, is freshwater Lake Naivasha. It was declared a bird sanctuary in 1967 and also supports pastoral industries of wine and flowers. During our full day field trip to Lake Naivasha, we study the birds of the region such as herons, fish eagles, ospreys, black crakes, and lily-trotters Activities include reliving the experience of Joy Adamson and Elsa while viewing “Born Free.” Lake Naivasha being on the Rift floor is home to an incredible variety of species.Dinner & overnight at the Fish Eagle Inn (BLD).
Day 4 :
Lake Naivasha – Hell’s Gate Natioanal Park
After breakfast, a morning bird walk with the aim of viewing birds on the shores of the Lake with a few hours of relaxation before lunch. Afternoon visit to Hell’s Gate National Park, which is a breeding ground for vultures in Kenya e.g. Lammergeyer vultures we also anticipate for species like Imperial eagle, Schalow’s wheatear, Chin spot batis. Dinner and overnight at The Fish Eagle Inn (BLD).
Day 5 :
Hell’s Gate National Park
Lake Nakuru National Park After breakfast depart for Lake Nakuru National Park known as “The pink Heart Of Kenya” because of the millions of Flamingoes that cover the lake with pink shine. Lake Nakuru, which is famous for its thousands of Lesser Flamingos - the Greater Flamingoes will be easily distinguishable by their height. The Great White and Pink-backed Pelican and Black-winged Stilt are also there. Afternoon game/bird viewing, dinner and overnight stay will be at Flamingo Hill Camp or similar (BLD).
Day 6 :
Lake Nakuru National Park
Today we will spend the whole day bird watching at the park and if lucky enough we have the chance to see the shy cat “the Leopard” mostly seen in this park before returning for lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon we have some
time to relax before embarking on our late afternoon game drive to try and capture what was not seen during the day before the dusk engulf us. Dinner & overnight at Flamingo Hill Camp or similar. (BLD).
Day 7 :
Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara Adventure
oon after breakfast, drive across the floor of the Great Rift Valley the longest Rift in the crust of the Earth to Masai Mara Game Reserve the unspoiled Savannah . Masai Mara is actually the northern portion of the Great Plains ecosystem in the neighbouring Tanzania called Serengeti. It is a home to the “big five” lion, buffalo, rhino, leopard and elephant as well cheetah, zebra, giraffe and vast herds of plain antelope and numerous and other wildlife. Dinner & overnight at Neptune Mara Rianta Luxury Camp or similar(BLD).
Day 8 :
Masai Mara
An early morning birding cum game drive after breakfast will be our perfect start of another unforgettable and memorable birding days in Africa . With picnic lunch en-route you spend your day in Mara Plains trying to identify and record the over 450 species record in this reserve. All meals andovernight at Neptune Mara Rianta Luxury Camp or similar (BLD).
Day 9 :
Masai Mara – Nairobi – Fly
After breakfast, we drive back to Nairobi arriving in time for lunch at Tamambo Restaurant where you can enjoy some good Italian food, Check-in to a day room at The Tamarind tree Nairobi hotel. Farewell dinner Later early in the evening, will be hosted by Roaming Africa Safaris at the world famous Carnivore Restaurant considered “Africa’s greatest eating experience” (if you love barbecue it doesn’t get better than this), and home to the “Simba Saloon” one of the cities most popular night clubs. Thereafter you will be transferred to the airport in time for your International departure flight.
